SUMMARY:

So I’m several weeks deep into my 0 Hour Challenge. It’s been a challenge. Tons of wins, tons of self sabotage trying to keep me stuck.

I realized that I had a huge fear of letting go and compensated by being a perfectionist and trying to control everything.

But I discovered that these were both surface level issues. The underlying problem was not fear but unworthiness.

I subconsciously believed in unworthiness and so I had to appear perfect to be valuable.

Appearing to be perfect is what drove my compulsive overthinking and over-optimization when what I really needed was simple, but scary:

Let go of the fear and the unworthiness. Not by shaming it out, but by loving it out. Accepting the fear and the unworthiness as part of the journey I had to learn from.

For example, this initial update is late. I got overwhelmed trying to do too much, so I prioritized implementing the challenge instead of writing about it.

Not stoked about it, but it is what it is. I’m learning, and I promised real, not perfect. Maybe that’s an excuse, but onward.

0 HOUR CHALLENGE STATUS UPDATES

 ✅ Brand 100% automated + asynchronous

CURRENT STATUS: Incomplete.

Close, but not 100% there, yet. Everything is defined, systemized but not 100% delegated or automated.

I received almost 600 applications to join my team that I have vetted down to a dozen or so competent team members and so far have two VA’s I am in the process of ramping up from trial tasks to projects and lastly, full time placement.

In the past few weeks, my team has done the following:

  • Created blog and video content

  • Setup my entire advertising campaign

  • Setup Analytics + Tracking infrastructure

  • Setup automated lead gen (using ManyChat)

  • Helped me analyze and vet candidate applications

So while I can’t say I’m 100% automated/async, we are likely a few days/weeks away which I’m stoked about! So this is a huge win for me.

✅ 4FS: Fun + Family + Flow + Fitness Every Day

CURRENT STATUS: Complete.

I am happy with my progress here. I maintained a steady flow across the board here. Nearly every single day featured time with family, heavy lifting times per week plus daily movement. I made time for deep, flow state work as well, but I need to be more consistent with my schedule to optimize this. In addition, I would like to proactively schedule more fun experiences on a weekly and monthly basis that I can look forward to. By increasing my awareness around these four areas, I learned to slow down and appreciate the now with family and by myself. Overall, this was the biggest win of all.

✅ 0 Hours Non-Zone of Genius Time (0 meetings, 0 admin or management)

CURRENT STATUS: Complete. Aside from a few fires, I have reduced energy draining work to a few minutes per day. The majority of essential tasks are in process of delegation. However, this was extremely difficult at first. I realized I had a ton of resistance and self sabotaging patterns around this disguised as busywork. I realized this is literally just an addiction to busy work to keep myself from avoiding the real work… Confronting my fears. I told myself that I did this because I was a perfectionist. But, that was superficial, ego protection. Beneath perfectionism was fear of failure and being judged. I had to observe this pattern a few times before I could identify and finally make peace with it. I forgave myself for past ‘failures’ and trauma that I was holding onto like getting cut from my college team, failed partnerships and bankruptcy. I learned to become grateful for each of these moments because they were lessons that I needed to learn in order to evolve and grow. This was powerful for me. Now let’s get into the data. Here it is from my Rescuetime account:

✅ Daily Growth: new leads + sales + wins daily without me, sales calls or team

CURRENT STATUS: Incomplete.

So for the last week or so, we are getting new traffic and leads every day thanks to ads and organic content, however, we need to ramp up the volume here. Most importantly, I am not yet getting daily sales. I also realized that I had a lot of resistance here due to the above fears. For example, I would routinely procrastinate by spending time building and optimizing things (like infrastructure, docs, etc) instead of getting out there and selling which has been the primary bottleneck. The next step is to increase volume of lead generation activities (ads, content + outreach) and then conversion rate optimization.

Most Important Lessons Learned:

  1. Slow down. Enjoy.

  2. Family is everything.

  3. The now is all there is, forever.

  4. Perfectionism is fear in disguise, not a badge of honor.

  5. Workaholism is an addiction and should be treated as such. It ruins health, lives, minds, relationships and robs you of time you’ll never get back.

0 HOUR CHALLENGE NEXT STEPS

Overall, I completed 2 of my 4 success metrics for the challenge. While I didn’t achieve 100%, I made tons of progress & achieved huge clarity. That’s a win in my book.

Now the challenge isn’t over until it’s over. I will continue updating you here on progress and sharing all the wins, challenges and lessons for your own benefit below.

0 HOUR CHALLENGE EPISODE #03 July 18, 2025

✅ Brand 100% automated + asynchronous

Everything is ready but I’m not. I am still telling myself I need to do X, Y, Z before I can let go. This is bullshit. This is just my fear of letting go → failure → judgment → embarrassment. I have a badass onboarding and training program, hundreds of hungry candidates and several vetted team members who have already proven they are competent. The bottleneck is not more process or systems - it’s fear. This has become crystal clear to me. The solution is simple → let go. I just have to jump.

Update: Since writing this (a few days ago), I made my first full time hire. Time to effing jump!

✅ 4FS: Fun + Family + Flow + Fitness Every Day

I am still doing solid here and have been enjoying a lot of family time. I’m probably with my son for 3-4 hours every day plus another hour or so with the rest of my family. I wouldn't trade these moments for anything.

I’ve also been consistent with date night every week with my wife Anamaria which has been very helpful. I wish we started sooner, but excited to keep this going.

I need to do a better job proactively planning fun activities for myself, my wife and my family. There’s tons to do - I need to set aside time weekly to evaluate and prioritize these activities versus ‘winging it’.

✅ 0 Hours Non-Zone of Genius Time (0 meetings, 0 admin or management)

Right now I’m spending 95% of my time on zone of genius tasks and it’s been great. That said, there are a few bottlenecks that need to be resolved in order to get both execution and conversion flowing for Different Hunger:

Here are the current bottlenecks I need to get off my plate ASAP:

  1. Talent vetting, trial task workflows and payments: Right now we have a fully asynchronous workflow for hiring talent which is working great. However, I am still the point person for vetting new applicants, vetting their trial tasks and handling payments. This entire process (you can see the entire process with links here) is systemized so delegation will be easy, I just have to get it done.

  2. Sprint prioritization, planning and assignment: As someone with ADHD, I get overwhelmed very easily. This has been both a curse and a blessing because it has forced me to create what I believe is a pretty badass system for identifying the top priority tasks with AI-assistance (View the system here: Prioritization Score Prompt). At the current stage of the business, I am fine being the final say when it comes to prioritization, but I need to get team members assisting me before and after the prioritization stage.

✅ Daily Growth: new leads + sales + wins daily without me, sales calls or team

I had a big insight the other day: I don’t need more leads, I simply need to do a better job engaging, nurturing and converting our existing community and network.

Right now, Different Hunger has over 10,000+ leads across our email list, 500+ talent network and around 300 buyers (previous partners, clients and customers). Many of these previous buyers are early adopters who joined the first iterations of our accelerator and other products, so they not only have invested in Different Hunger, but they support the bigger mission and vision.  So I need to spend the vast majority of my effort pouring into these individuals and empower them to help them grow.

To support with this, I’ve recently launched a partner program which I will be opening up to these individuals first, and then opening up to the public later. I am excited about the possibilities of this program because it’s not just about driving referrals, it’s about evangelizing our vision, mission and movement. This is what it’s all about.

I’ve also realized that I need to stop creating new content for the most part. I have ten years of content and with that, I have content that has been proven to generate leads and sales. So instead of constantly producing new content, I simply need to organize this content in a central way so that my team can continuously pull from it.

Given our current funnel (Free Content/Community → Challenge → Studio), I simply need to build out a 14-30 day content calendar and hand it over to my team to publish daily, then review and optimize weekly. By combining organic content like this, plus targeted outreach and retargeting ads, I’m confident we can start seeing daily sales shortly.

Reflections

Wins

  1. Radical Clarity: This challenge has forced me to focus and dial in my vision. I cannot automate and delegate everything to reach 0 Hour without radical clarity. This challenge has forced me to crystallize my vision in ways that I previously have not done and the impact has been profound. In addition, it’s also shown me what truly matters: being fully present every moment and spending as much time as possible with people I love and/or doing things that I love.

  2. Radical Confidence: This newfound sense of clarity has led to radical confidence. I have never been more confident about Different Hunger’s value, offerings and what I am selling than I am now (the 0 Hour Challenge and 0 Hour Studio). Now it’s time to stop building and start selling.

Opportunities

  1. Community Activation: Different Hunger is home to a truly amazing community. Arguably my biggest regret of all is not doing a good job engaging and managing this community. This is my biggest opportunity right now to reactivate the community and get momentum flowing again.

  2. Letting Go: As said above, I need to face my fear of letting go and f#cking send it. No more micromanagement or fear. Just let go. I have everything I need, already. Time to use it. Go.

Lessons

Focus on what you already have.

As stated above, I don’t need more. I need to take advantage of the assets I already have. I realized I used to get caught in the trap of ‘more’. This challenge has shown me that I don’t need more - I need to focus on what I already have and put those assets to work. This reminds me again of Lao Tzu’s quote I love so much:

“The man who realizes he already has enough is truly rich.”

More money equals more time.

More money means you can buy back more of your time. More time and true freedom is always the goal.
