$16 Six-Packs & the Need for Gratitude

$16 Six-Packs & the Need for Gratitude

I’m back in Brooklyn and it’s great to be back. Even though I just had to drop $16 for a six-pack the other night (CORONA LIGHTS, WTF BRO), I’m still very grateful to be in this amazing city, living my dream and working for myself.

Things are going really well, too. As I mentioned in my July review, I ended up making more $$$ working for myself, than I did at my previous job. This of course was a massive win, and something I’m very proud of…

However, as my success with my different projects continues to grow, I have been making a conscious effort to take a step back and appreciate my progress and both the big / small wins I encounter along the way.

Two pieces of advice have been at the front of my mind when thinking about this…

Brett McKay of The Art of Manliness:

Achieving goals is a lot more underwhelming than you think they’ll be. Quit thinking you’ll be happy once you’ve achieved them. Enjoy the process.

Shawn Achor, bestselling author & leading happiness researcher:

I wish I had known that success would not lead to happiness, but happiness would lead to greater success… So my advice is seek real happiness (not just pleasure) first, and your chances of success rise dramatically.

I love these quotes because they show the need to enjoy the process and use that as a source of happiness, which in turn leads to success.

I’m doing my best to keep this advice in mind and shape my mindset accordingly. Now that I’m living my dream, I need to continually show my gratitude for that, and for the progress I’ve made.

If you don’t take a minute out of your day to be grateful for what you’ve accomplished, you’re missing out on a huge source of motivation and well-being.
